Addressing a Critical Training Gap
Shutdowns, turnarounds, and outages (STOs) are among the most complex, costly, and high-stakes operations in industry. Yet, there is currently no standardized training or certification program for managing these events in Canada. To address this critical skills gap, PEMAC is developing the Shutdown and Turnaround Management Professional (STMP) education and certification program.
Industries across the world are facing increasing pressure to maintain critical infrastructure reliability while managing workforce shortages, rising project complexity, supply chain challenges, and the retirement of experienced STO professionals. As organizations invest in sustaining and modernizing industrial operations, the need for standardized, practical shutdown and turnaround training has become increasingly important.
