Volunteer Responsibilities

A Volunteer has a responsibility to:

  • Accept assignments relative to their ability and/or decline assignments which they find unsuitable;
  • Engage in self-care in context of the amount of responsibility they take on
  • Follow the terms outlined in the Volunteer Service Agreement and any relevant Terms and Conditions
  • Be aware of- and follow- applicable statutes, policies, and procedures;
  • Respect confidentiality of the service;
  • Comply with the Association's Code of Ethics;
  • Carry out their assignment and related documentation reliably per their Volunteer Service Agreement and, when this is not possible, notify the relevant staff support person or committee lead in a timely way so that a plan may be arranged;
  • Disclose any conflict of interest as they become aware of any real or perceived conflicts;
  • Develop knowledge and skills to work safely, competently, and to mitigate risks in the performance of volunteer duties, and,
  • Work with the Volunteer Engagement Specialist to develop skills, resolve concerns, consider re-assignment and other remedies during their involvement.
