PEMAC offers a range of benefits to volunteers including,
- Volunteer Service: We aim to offer high standards in the administration of volunteer services including
- Screening: We aim to ensure that all volunteers are properly matched to roles that fit their skills, abilities, and competencies
- Orientation: We strive to ensure volunteers are oriented to their roles, staff and their work area and expectations
- Training: We aim to ensure that all volunteers have access to training for their roles as needed.
- Continuing Professional Development (CPD) Hours: One-to-one hours for volunteer time accrued. Anyone who coordinates meetings can email cpd@pemac.org to have the meeting hours for their team logged. If you are doing a one-off or individual work or additional work between meetings, then you can book your hours in the CPD Tracker.
- Support: We aim to have a high level of customer service that is sensitive to volunteer’s needs throughout their process with our association. Volunteers assigned to a role will have someone assigned to orient them to their role, answer questions and provide feedback
- Recognition: Volunteers will be thanked for their service and receive various forms of informal recognition; as well, we also offer formal recognition to volunteers for outstanding service and years of service completed.
Social Media:
Volunteers are encouraged to promote their PEMAC involvement on their resume and on social media within the purview of PEMAC’s Social Media Policy. Instructions relating to social media posts can be found here: https://www.pemac.org/board-handbook/how-indicate-your-involvement-pemac
Insurance Coverage:
General Liability: Applies to Board and direct service volunteers. As long as a volunteer has been screened and treated as an employee of the organization (role descriptions, screening, and supervision/support) they are covered by PEMAC’s general liability insurance. As such, all volunteers will undergo these processes in order to limit PEMAC's exposure to liability.
