PEMAC at CNAM 2025: Celebrating Leadership, Learning, and Impact in Asset Management

The CNAM 2025 National Conference in Laval was a powerful gathering of asset management professionals from across Canada—and PEMAC was proud to participate in meaningful ways that showcased the leadership and innovation of our members and partners.

Presenting National Insights

PEMAC President Nigel D’Souza joined Sean Jackson of CNAM to present the preliminary findings from the State of Asset Management in Canada report. This joint initiative between PEMAC and CNAM offers a first-of-its-kind look at how municipalities across the country are managing their $16 trillion in physical assets.

Celebrating Corporate Member Excellence

We were thrilled to celebrate PEMAC Corporate Member Region of Niagara, who received 1st Place in the Tereo Awards for their project "AI-Driven Fleet Forecasting and VECI Framework." Their innovative approach also featured in the conference’s technical program, reinforcing their leadership in municipal asset management.

Niagara Region also delivered an impactful technical presentation: "The Integration of Asset Management with Financial Strategy and Planning – A Paradigm Shift for Municipal Asset Management?" This session outlined their in-house, risk-based capital decision-support tool, which aligns a $6 billion water and wastewater portfolio with service levels, risk management, and funding scenarios. Special thanks to John Murray and Roland Bradshaw for their contributions to this groundbreaking work.

Leadership in Practice: Darla Campbell’s Workshop

PEMAC member and past Asset Management Leadership Award recipient Darla Campbell co-led an interactive workshop with Austen Underhill of Dillon Consulting. Together, they guided participants through embedding risk into asset management frameworks using a Triple Bottom Line approach—connecting environmental, social, and economic factors in a practical, hands-on format.

Engaging with the Community

PEMAC staff members Education and Professional Development Manager, Nicolle Guillen and Business Development Associate, Richard Stamper were on-site, connecting with attendees, answering questions about our education and certification programs, and sharing how PEMAC supports excellence in maintenance and asset management across Canada. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the booth—we’re always glad to connect with our growing community.
