Nova Scotia Chapter Hosts Target Practice on Reliability Event

On Thursday, May 22nd, the Nova Scotia Chapter of PEMAC hosted its first event of 2025, drawing nearly 20 participants for an evening of learning, networking, and some friendly competition.

The evening featured a series of insightful presentations from industry experts:

  • Matt Holmes of Acuren discussed bollard inspections and related field learnings.
  • Shane Gushu and Mackenzie Brown from Atlantic Controls shared tools and techniques used in their predictive maintenance service offerings.
  • Darren Desaulniers of UE Systems delivered a session on the value of ultrasound inspection in maintenance strategies.
  • Joseph Ezeani, Project Manager, Asset Management at NS Power, presented key lessons learned from a recent Headgate Inspection project.
  • Martha Myers, Owner of MMCSL, delivered a dynamic PechaKucha-style talk on the design and performance of her 2022-completed passive house, highlighting its energy efficiency and comfort benefits.

Following the presentations, attendees were invited to channel their inner lumberjack at a lively axe-throwing session. After a quick safety and technique tutorial, the group was split into two teams for a spirited competition. Congratulations to Erin MacNeil of NS Power, who emerged as the evening’s axe-throwing champion!

The Nova Scotia Chapter is already planning upcoming events, including an onsite tour and a golf tournament. Stay tuned for more details!

A big thank you to our sponsors—NS Power, Acuren, Atlantic Controls, and UE Systems—for making this event possible.
