About PEMAC

PEMAC History

PEMAC was founded in 1990 as the “Plant Engineering and Maintenance Association of Canada”, a national organization to unite those responsible for plant engineering and maintenance management who needed a forum to share their knowledge and expertise and to advance appreciation within society of the fundamental importance of maintenance and asset management.

PEMAC brings together those who serve some of the most critical infrastructure organizations in Canada to further best practices and knowledge and to create value for these organizations and society at-large. What is critical infrastructure? That is relative to the mission of your organization. For some of our members ‘critical infrastructure’ might refer to the facilities and HVAC system of an elder-care home; for others it might be the baggage handling system of an international airport; for others it could be the water and wastewater system of a small municipality; for others it is a portfolio of pulp mills. If you think about it, any of those systems might have been critical to any of us as members of public at some point in a given year.

In 2020 PEMAC changed its name to PEMAC Asset Management Association of Canada to recognize that its contributors today include many that are not responsible for “plants”, as well as many who are neither engineers nor maintenance managers. Our membership includes all who are interested in collaborating across an organization to ensure that the right investments (both capex and opex) are made in physical infrastructure to ensure that value is delivered reliably over the entire lifecycle with minimum risk to people, property and the environment. Our members are the Canadian leaders in asset management and as such, they have an influence globally.
