PEMAC Shares Asset Management Insights at OCWA Training Session

On June 10th, PEMAC Business Development Associate Richard Stamper joined long-time member and instructor Dharmen Dhaliah to present at an Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) Work Management System training session for a First Nations client. The session brought together water operators from Anishinaabeg of Kabapikotawangag Resource Council (AKRC) communities. The purpose of the training was to introduce PEMAC, provide an overview of maintenance and asset management and familiarize the attendees with the work management system, including creating, accessing and closing PM work orders and maintaining the asset inventory, and teach them how to use it in their day to day operations.

Richard opened the presentation with an introduction to PEMAC, highlighting who we are, our mission, and the programs and resources offered to support asset management professionals at all levels. His remarks focused on the Maintenance Management Professional program, noting select modules are recognized as Continuing Education Units by Ontario Water Wastewater Certification Office.

Following Richard’s overview, Dharmen delivered an engaging session on the fundamentals of asset management, with a specific focus on maintenance management and the implementation of work management systems. His insights laid the groundwork for OCWA’s ongoing training initiatives, helping participants understand how these fundamentals align and can lead to sustainable performance at water treatment plants in each of the seven AKRC communities.

The collaborative presentation underscored PEMAC’s role in supporting the development of skilled professionals and r advocating for a strategic asset management approach.
