On December 11, local PEMAC members had the opportunity to visit Hiram Walker & Sons Ltd. and learn about the organization’s recent advancements in maintenance practices. The visit began with an overview of the significant capital investments made at the site over the past three years, and how this rapid growth created an opportunity to implement new, more structured maintenance approaches. Members were also walked through several major projects focused on reducing the facility’s carbon footprint and improving overall operational efficiency.
Following the presentation, attendees toured the historic distillery, gaining insight into how Canadian whisky is produced and seeing key equipment and processes in operation. The visit concluded with a guided Canadian whisky tasting led by Gavin, Brand Ambassador for J.P. Wiser’s. Throughout the tour and afterward, members exchanged ideas on maintenance practices, connected with local practitioners, and took time to reconnect socially.
PEMAC extends sincere thanks to the Hiram Walker & Sons team for their warm hospitality and for generously sharing their time, experience, and practical lessons in maintenance and asset management.
