This handbook is based on feedback from PEMAC volunteers and the following documents:

  • Canadian Code for Volunteer Involvement (CCVI) created by Volunteer Canada to support organizations that engage volunteers. The CCVI is a framework for involving volunteers in all levels of an organization
  • Standards Program from Imagine Canada, an organization that helps Canadian charities and nonprofits improve their policies and practices in five foundational areas including policy standards for volunteer involvement.

Using the CCVI standards as a guide, and best practices in policy, procedure and practice as outlined in the Standards Program, Volunteer Engagement at PEMAC strives for an inclusive, transparent, and thoughtful framework to support volunteers in their efforts with our organization.
