GTA Chapter Hosts Successful Event at Microsoft

Category:

PEMAC's GTA Chapter held a successful professional development event this week in Mississauga. Attendees came from near and far, even as far as Sault Ste. Marie, to network with fellow professionals, and to develop their knowledge.

Hosted at the Microsoft Training Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, attendees were treated to an insightful presentation and case studies focusing on: Adding Intelligence to Complex Legacy Assets with IIoT, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) for Predictive Maintenance. Blair Fraser from Lakeside Process Systems and Rajiv Anand from Quartic.ai, shared their knowledge about the Internet of Things (IIoT) as one enabler. Attendees heard that it is important to start with the data that you already have and utilize AI to support predictive maintenance. They also learned how AI should be viewed as a tool that professionals can become the masters of, and to craft it to become an extension of themselves.

After lunch, attendees participated in an Augmented Reality (AR) workshop and hands-on demonstration that showcased a revolutionary tool, the Microsoft HoloLens for Plant Service and Maintenance. Special thanks to Greg Dashwood, Product Lead - IoT & Advanced Analytics at Microsoft for sharing this tool. It was impressive to see the capabilities of this AR device and the endless possibilities of supporting organizations with their maintenance strategies and streamlining processes. From the simple movement of a hand, maintenance professionals could inspect an asset, open up work orders and receive detailed instructions with ease.

Thank you to everyone who joined us this week, and a special thank you to the event sponsors Microsoft Canada & Quartic.ai.

Plans are underway for the next GTA Chapter event now. Watch for more details very soon. Stay connected to stay informed of upcoming initiatives in the GTA and beyond.
