PEMAC Fort McMurray Chapter Networking & Professional Development
PEMAC members and guests are invited to join an upcoming in-person event on March 11 at the Fort McMurray Water Treatment Plant for an evening of learning and discussion focused on real-world asset management under pressure.
The evening will feature a keynote presentation by Justin Canning, Manager of Asset Management, Insurance Services, and GIS for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo. Drawing on his extensive experience in plant operations, maintenance, and asset management, Justin will share insights from Fort McMurray’s flood event and its direct impact on the Water Treatment Plant. The session will explore lessons learned, asset resilience, and the role of sound asset management in responding to and recovering from major disruptive events.

Justin Canning is the Manager of Asset Management, Insurance Services, and GIS for the Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo in Fort McMurray, AB. A Certified Asset Management Professional and Certified Asset Management Assessor, he brings 18 years of experience in plant operations, maintenance, and asset management. Justin is an active member of PEMAC, contributing to the Asset Management for the Public Sector Committee and the Mentorship Pilot Program. Outside of work, he is a proud father of four and devotes much of his time to coaching hockey and making music with his wife.
