PEMAC Body of Knowledge Team

The development of a PEMAC Body of Knowledge (BoK) has been a major initiative of the 2014 - 2019 PEMAC Strategic Plan. Over the last four years this team reviewed the BoK's of other organizations, developed a vision for the PEMAC BoK, developed a system for categorizing and distributing 'shared learning' assets with members (the Shared Learning Library) and developed and operated the system for inviting and reviewing new contributions. This team is currently looking for new energy to take their work to the next level and to extend opportunities for Members to connect, learn and contribute to PEMAC and the profession. We have some ideas, but the specific goals for next phase of the Body of Knowledge work are not yet written. Bring us your ideas and tell us how your skills could support development and implementation.

  • A Chairperson with project management expertise (doesn't have to be a subject matter expert)
  • Committee Members

Competency Framework Development Team

Maintenance, Reliability and Asset Management are evolving and gaining recognition internationally as professional disciplines where excellence in practice is understood to contribute significantly to generating and maintaining value for asset intensive organizations. As these related fields evolve, organizations around the world, including PEMAC, are developing products and services to support professionalization.

PEMAC has an existing Competency Framework that addresses specific roles in Maintenance Management and Asset Management. Our current set of competency statements is the basis of our professional development and certification curriculum. These statements are reviewed and updated regularly as part of the curriculum review process. The Board of Directors has identified opportunities to build on this foundation and it sees the evolution of the PEMAC Competency Framework as an important project to further the PEMAC mission. The project is in very early stages and requires:

  • A Chairperson with project management expertise (doesn't have to be a subject matter expert)
  • Committee Members:
    • Some with domain expertise in Maintenance, Reliability & Asset Management
    • Some with human resources / competency development expertise
