PEMAC Celebrates International Women in Engineering Day with Webcast Panel
Happy International Women in Engineering Day to all of those celebrating across Canada and around the world this Saturday, June 23, 2018! #INWED18
INWED, celebrated each year on June 23, aims to celebrate women in engineering around the globe. The international awareness campaign works to raise awareness of women in engineering and bring attention to the many career opportunities available across a number of industries, by celebrating the outstanding achievements of women engineers from around the world. This year the focus in on #RaisingTheBar .
PEMAC was pleased to participate in the celebrations this year by hosting a webcast on Friday, June 22 that featured an amazing panel of women in Engineering, who also happen to be PEMAC members! We heard great perspectives from a variety of women in engineering who discussed what a career in engineering means to them.
We also welcomed Annette Bergeron, President of Engineers Canada, who discussed the association's 30 by 30 initiative. The initiative aims to increase the representation of women in the engineering field in Canada to 30% by the year 2030. Our panel shared their thoughts on the initiatives and described a variety of opportunities available to women in engineering, and also offered some thoughts on how organizations can attract them. Thank you to our panelists and to everyone else who joined us for a very insightful hour!
Did you miss the webcast? Don't worry we recorded it so you don't have to miss a moment.
